EMERGENCY MEDICINE CLERKSHIP
Welcome Student Rotators!
Meet our EM Clerkship Director, Scott Bugsch
Are you interested in EM or want to gain experience working with critically ill patients? Are you interested in emergent procedures? Do you want an experience that is challenging and unique?
Welcome to St Joe’s! Here at Joe’s, our goal is to give our rotating students the experience of a lifetime and give them skills and knowledge they can take with them no matter where they may end up.
In our 4-week long rotation you will take an active role learning and working alongside both resident and attending physicians, serving as the primary provider for patients and giving you a strong foundation in patient care and emergency management.
Learning also goes beyond clinical shifts and into the classroom with weekly didactic sessions with our residents, as well as separate student-only learning sessions focused on simulation, procedures, and ultrasound. We also provide a resource guide for our students for use during their rotation to help strengthen and solidify knowledge and skills.
Our diverse patient population provides a wide breadth of pathology and opportunities for additional learning and growth. Our patients are the reason we exist, and they deserve to have the best care possible - you will serve a major role in helping to provide this care.
Students have been a part of St. Joe’s since before the residency programs existed and are the reason for the growth in graduate medical education - we love our students and will work to make your experience invaluable.
