I have been fortunate enough to be able to immerse myself in different cultures. I have traveled to and lived in Korea, the mid-west and now the West Coast. I hope to find the prefect place to settle down, but for now St. Joes is home. In my previous life, I worked as a research technician. I could rewatch About Time multiple times a week and still cry every time. I love the music, storyline and all the characters. My biggest red flag would be my thunderous sounding laugh, which I would say is quite contagious.
-
Kwesi Darku, MD

Hello, I’m from the great land of Oh Canada. Prior to becoming a resident, I paid the bills by working as a Sales Associate and a Teaching Assistant. My favorite movie is The Dark Knight — there will never be a better Batman or Joker. My biggest red flag is that I can gaslight better than your local Shell. ;]
-
Alejandra Gamon, DO
Hometown: Visalia, CA
Medical School: Kansas City University
Professional Interests: Ultrasound, EMS
I previously worked as an Entomology Lap Helper and Food QA Lab Technician. My all time favorite movie is Interstellar. The music, cinematography and storyline are absolutely captivating. Despite my attempts at being engaged and active, my biggest red flag is that I am always tired.
-
Ashley Griffin, DO
Hometown: Discovery Bay, CA
Medical School: Touro University - NY
Professional Interests: Critical Care Medicine, POCUS
I was an ER scribe prior to going to medical school with aspirations of becoming an emergency medicine physician…and I made it! When I’m not at work, you can find me hanging out with my beautiful family, doing home renovations or trying out a new recipes in the kitchen. My all time favorite movie is Guardian of the Galaxy because who doesn’t like a good Marvel comedy. My biggest red flag is that I am 100% a Disney adult. Anyone else down for margaritas, lobster nachos, churros and over 20,000 steps a day?
-
Michelle Hamed, DO
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Medical School: Kansas City University
Professional Interests: Social EM, ultrasound, global health, Admin
I worked as an EM scribe for seven years and also dabbled as a waitress and guest liaison at the SD Zoo and Safari Park. I enjoy cooking but also eating, trying new restaurants/bars, game nights and tennis to burn those calories! My favorite my is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, specifically for the plot and by plot, I mean Legolas in the Two Towers when he slides down the stairs during the battle at Helm’s Deep. IYKYK. My biggest red flag is that I am always thinking about my next snack/meal.
-
Haroon Javid, MD
Hometown: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Medical School: Alfaisal University Saudi Arabia
Professional Interests: Global EM, ultrasound, community service, graduate medical education
I was a Teaching Assistant before going to residency. I enjoy reading the Harry Potter series but if I had to choose one book, it would be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I could not put the book down and finished it in three days during 5th grade before the first part of the movie was released. My superpower or potentially my biggest red flag is that I am a a skilled and efficient alarm clock snoozer.
-
John Lee, DO

MedicalSchool: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Professional Interests: Addiction medicine, event medicine, wilderness medicine
PreviousLives: Tutor, campus catering
Hi! I am an avid traveler, mostly in the US, but I plan on many international travel in the near future. My favorite movie is Love, Simon! I'm such a Kinnie of Simon, and it's one of the only mainstream movies without a tragic story with its gay protagonist. My red flag would be: despite growing up in a spice-loving household, my spice tolerance is so low I'll sweat through a mountain of napkins from...tabasco.
-
Oscar Moran, DO
Hometown: San Fernando, CA
Medical School: Burrell College of Osteopathic
I was an EMT and an Assistant Program Manager for a Family Care CLinic/HIV Clinic prior to embarking on my new journey as an Emergency Medicine Physician. While I did my rotations in Tucson, Az I learned how to dance salsa and bachata and became proficient enough to teach a basic dance course in both. My favorite movie is Before Sunrise because it is the first romance movie I've seen where you get to see a couple fall in love right before your eyes in real time. My biggest red flag is that I take a minimum of 10 years to reply to a text.
-
Viktoriya Rembelinska, DO
Hometown: Everett, MA
Medical School: Western University
Professional Interests: wilderness medicine and rescue, high altitude medicine, supporting women in medicine
I am a paragliding P2 pilot, I love climbing and summiting big mountains, I've backpacked in over 15 different countries, I enjoy surfing at San Clemente, snowboarding at my local mountain Dodge Ridge, jumping into freezing cold water, gardening, spending time with my family and chickens, and going to EDM festivals. I worked as a Behavior Health Technician inbetween my adventerous actives. On a rare occasion, I will spend a quiet evening watching my favorite movie, the Goodfellas. My biggest red flag is I say "it is what it is" after any traumatic event in my life.
-
Jessica Sieminski, DO
Hometown: Martinez, CA and Pollock Pines, CA
Medical School: Touro University - CA
Professional interests: EMS, education, ultrasound, wilderness medicine
Prior to going to medical school, I worked as a veterinary assistant and as an EMT. I quickly realized by passion for emergency medicine and have not looked back since. My favorite book is The Picture of Dorian Gray. It’s short and sweet, so an easy read during high school, but it is also full of witticisms and imagery, with a dash of murder and a little deal with the devil for flavor. My biggest red flag is: “Did you know that Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe filming the Two Towers?" — me, probably.
-
Brian Vuu, DO
Hometown: Baldwin Park, CA
Undergraduate:
MedicalSchool: Western University of Health Sciences
ProfessionalInterests: Disaster medicine, trauma, event medicine
PreviousLives: athletic training assistant, campus bookstore supervisor
Salutations! A little about me...I've done mostly solo trips and visited 19 different countries throughout Asia and Europe, but have only been to 6 US states, 7 including layover stops. Fun fact, I have a Snapchat streak of 2750 days and counting. When I'm not watching my favorite movies on repeat (Crazy Rich Asians vs Avengers: Endgame vs Your Name), I am reading the Orphan X series. I find it interesting to imaging what could happen in the "dark" side of LA that we are unaware of and the undercurrent of espionage and vigilante justice.
